  • Much older than I thought

    September 8, 1999

Today I won Biff the dinosaur, Weirdy Bird, and Coca-Cola bear. Yesterday I won a stopwatch, a flashlight fan and t shirt and bonkers the weople. I also won Kool Cat the weople and Stretch the weople and a flower ball toss game a twizzler rope a box of spree and we are getting a street hockey set. I also get an all you can eat ice cream party.

Now that I've typed this, I'm wondering if it actually is 1994. We might have just gone back in time a lot of years. Mainly I think this because it CAN'T be 1999. I was in high school then and this is clearly pre-high school. These are prizes from selling magazines. My brother and I always rocked and sold lots and got pretty much all the prizes. And being that I said "we", that also means that the oldest I was was 7th grade since he would have had to have been pre-high school as well. Dang. 1994. How old was I then? 5th grade I think. That seems like it could be correct. So, we have now reverted to delving into the mind of a 10-year-old.

The next entry is not dated. It was written with a doodle pen. You know the type. A Dizzy Doodler. That's right. I had one. You're jealous. But...it does make it more difficult to read. We'll see if I can decipher my own writing.

I can't wait until Sunday because it will be Easter then. (Wow, this is bad.) I am getting ten Disney ?_____? and candy tomorrow I might be having Katie spend the night. If she cannot will ?___? Amy or Lyndsey or Jenny.

    **********

Ok. I'm not saying I really talked or wrote in that fragmented of sentences. My grammar was probably not perfect, but hopefully not as bad as that makes it out to be. And I remember having Katie spend the night in 5th grade sometime. I remember watching a Boyz II Men video. I don't think I knew the song at all before that. Katie did. (Thus proving the fact that I was just never meant to be "cool".) I think we watched Silence of the Lambs, too. Maybe.

  • Memories

    Dream sequence #7...

It's been a few days. I think this may be the last of the dream sequences...at least the ones that aren't interspersed in my journals.

    May 30, 1999 - Sunday

Lisa and I went shopping and I thought that I had no money, so somebody gave me a credit card. I charged $43.44 then I decided to stop because I knew I wouldn't be able to get any more money than that. Then I opened my wallet and I had tons of money in it and I don't know how I got it, but then I paid the $43.44 and I threw away the credit card.

Wow. What a frugal, conservative little freshman I was.

    June 20, 1999 - Sunday

We were in Walt Disney World and the people there at the Magic Kingdom asked some of us if we wanted to be in a show. So we all said, "YES!" In the show, they had my brother be the main guy and 3 other people I didn't know were in it, too. 2 guys and 1 girl. We were just extra people, but the person in charge told me and Lisa to do some stuff to make people laugh. So brother dressed up in this huge, blue dragon suit and we got smaller, simpler ones. His had shiny sequins for scales and ours were just shiny material. At the performance, brother was a big dragon that had to sing and dance and some people danced behind the closed curtain to make shadows, but they kept opening and closing the curtain, so we had to find places to hide and not move within a couple of seconds. So when me and the other girl, Lisa, were supposed to come out and do funny stuff, we had to sneak out the side and jump in the Blue River, it had blue dye in it, and had to swim around to the front of the castle and crawl up the ramp on the side of the front and we had to sneak up behind brother and copy every action he did. Then he dove in the river so we had to do that, too. He got this little dog, it was real, it was like the mascot or star person of that show. So he went back on the stage and first he threw a bucket of water on the audience. Then he tossed the dog into the audience and it swam away. The audience sat on a raft in the water. They were part of the moat. On our way around, Lisa and I had to pick up a stuffed dog that looked real and we were supposed to toss that in the audience, too, so somebody could get a stuffed animal and after the show, I went up into a tower of the castle and brother came up and he thought that I killed a dog because he didn't know what Lisa and I were told to do and that we were supposed to do that and that it was a stuffed animal. The next show, when I threw the stuffed dog out, it did somersaults and came back to brother so he tossed it back to me and I threw it again and it twirled over the the stage's right side and turned into a person. It was Chris. I didn't even know he was in Disney then or if they asked him to be in the show, but we performed for 4 months and they paid for our family's hotel rooms and plane fare to go back and they paid us and paid our parents what they were losing for not going to work and asked us all to come back the next year.

Sadly, that is all that is written in my *official* dream journal. After this point, I think the dreams I wrote down are just interspersed through all my journals, of which there seem to be a great number...and I'm not sure any of them are full (besides the 2-3 that I know I finished this year).

Also interesting to me is that my brother was in my dreams quite often. It should be noted that I do have 2 brothers...and both of them are just referred to as "brother" in the dreams, but my younger older brother was only in one of them. It makes me wonder when it was that my other brother kind of more moved out on his own. I'm thinking it was before this point because this last dream was just before my 15th birthday so he would have been almost 23. I think he and my sister had bought a house together and were living there. Pretty sure of that. So I wonder if NOT seeing him as often is why he appeared in my dreams more often. But my sister was not often in my dreams. And...I wasn't really close to that brother. Actually...now that I think of it though...I always considered it really special when I got to do things with my oldest brother. When he'd let me watch scary movies with him (he's the reason I like them)...When he'd be the one to pick me up from basketball or volleyball practices. They stand out to me. I don't remember a specific time when my mom picked me up, but I remember when my brother did. He also took me to the pond by where my grandparents used to live once. Just us. He went around with a shovel in front of me so we'd have a path along the outside to skate on. He took me with to the pet shop when he bought Keesha (the dog - she's 13 now). I remember walking next to him as he carried her through Carson Pirie Scott. Smiling the whole way. Because I got to go with. Wow. Memories I hadn't thought about in quite a long time.

  • My pet monster

    Dream sequence #6!

    May 6, 1999 - Thursday

We were at a sports event and had to change clothes. I went into the lockerroom that said GIRLS on the door and when I started to take my stuff out of my bag, five guys walked in. They wondered why I was in there. I said I came in the girls' locker room and they said they came in the boys' locker room. All of us had never been to that school before, so we went out the way the others came in. It ended up that the boys' and girls' locker rooms were connected.

    Ok. Whatever. More boring.

    **********

    May 28, 1999 - Friday

There was a town where only two people could live in a house and they could be any age. I just moved there, so my sister was telling me the things we could and could not do. My house was the one with a big violin picture by the door. Sister said that as long as that was there, she did not think that he could come into my house. Since she was not positive, we went to her house which had a sign that said "FLIRT" by the door. We ran upstairs and I asked her who "he" was. She said "he" was a big monster that came to eat people, but if you had a certain picture by your door, he would leave you alone most of the time. If you did what you were supposed to. Mollie lived next door to Sister and she had a "FLIRT" sign on her door, too, but she did not know what we were supposed to do to keep him away, so I said that we should call guys on the phone - because it was late and forbidden to go outside - and talk to them. Since it said "FLIRT" by the door, I figured that's what we should do. As we walked upstairs - to the third floor - to get the phone, there was a loud bang at the door, so then we ran to the phone and he kept banging at the door, so right away, I called a guy - there is only one in the whole neighborhood - and as soon as I started talking to him, the monster stopped banging and went away. After he left, I told the guy that I had to call him because the sign by the door said "FLIRT" and he was the only guy. He said he had the same thing by his door, so it was a good thing I called because he lives right next door to Mollie and the monster walked by as he was talking to me. So then we talked every night and I sold my big violin house to Matt because he knows how to play one and I moved in with Sister.

It's like...4-year-old boy meets 13-year-old girl. hah. And by "big violin" I meant stand up bass, in case you were wondering.

  • Take 2.

What's with my body apparently liking to be sick? Seriously. My allergies have been much worse this fall...as in they've lasted for a month or more. Nothing that's really more than an annoyance. Slight runny nose. Stuffy in the morning. Nothing more. Not bad at all. But. Then. Last night. I come down with the flu. Again. That's right, the puking kind. What the crap. Wasn't it just 2-3 months ago that I had this?

I've been fine most of today...though I did have to reschedule my interview. A one hour interview I probably could have handled. But over 4 hours...when I really don't know what my body is going to do? And when lunch is part of the day? Bad idea. Don't know yet when it will be rescheduled for.

I ate a small bowl of cereal (with water) a bit ago. And had some gatorade. No bad results yet. I avoided eating just about all day because...I wasn't hungry. Didn't want to start too soon when my body didn't claim to be needing it. Basically I didn't want to puke again. And so far I haven't. Twice is enough. Especially when dry heaves are involved. Gross. Actually...the dry heaves weren't what was gross. Don't finish this paragraph if you're the type to get grossed out. I'm not ashamed of bodily functions, so...yeah. The gross part about puking was that...it almost seemed like I couldn't get enough force behind it the second time...or something. Maybe it was too chunky and not enough liquidy. ha. But I would puke and some of it just couldn't make it out. So it'd get to my throat (blocking my airways) and stay there. There were 2 things I could do: swallow or cough. Coughing being the preferred option. But, do you know how difficult it is to cough when you've already emptied your lungs by puking and you can't take in anymore air because there's puke in your throat? Not as much an easy task. End of puke descriptions.

I watched "Singin' In The Rain" today. And..."Love and other Disasters" I think that was the name. And I slept. Quite a lot. And I only weigh 120 with clothes on today. 120.1 actually.

I think I'm going to eat more. Because it's something to do. Hopefully there are no repercussions to this thought pattern.

  • Fuzzy balls...

    Dream sequence #5

    April 25, 1999 - Sunday

There was a fun day at the high school and they were having a dance. Afterward, the guys were supposed to carry their dates up a mountain path in a race. A week before the dance, Cliff had to give me something that I left in his car and he asked me who I was going to the dance with. I said that nobody asked me and Cliff said that he hadn't asked anyone yet, so we agreed that if nobody had asked us by the end of the school day on Friday before the dance, we would go together. So, that Friday came and we still didn't have dates, so Cliff and I planned to go together. There wasn't a track meet that day, so I decided to go to the frosh/soph baseball game. After the game, Jon asked me who I was going to the dance with so I said that since nobody asked me yet, me and Cliff decided to go together. Then he said, "Ok. Bye." and walked away before I could even ask who he was going with. I thought we was going with Addie. The next day, right before the dance, Addie ran up to me and said that Jon wouldn't even come to the dance because I was going with Cliff. So then I ran all the way to school to talk to him. I said that a week ago, me and Cliff decided that if neither of us had dates by the end of school on Friday, we would go together. It took me so long to find Jon at school that we we got to the dance, the last song was on. We saw Cliff and Addie together, so Cliff must have asked her when I left. Then, everyone looked a lot happier and me and Jon won the up the mountain race.

Of course we won. You knew we would. I win. That's just what I do. I must say, that it is sometimes quite difficult to type these as they were written, me being a grammar nerd and all. I mean, it's mostly correct...but I'd still consider the above writing sample to be horrid. I cringed sometimes. Also, what's with me dreaming about multiple boys falling for me?

    April 30, 1999 - Friday

We went to the hospital because my grandma was very sick. That night, we found out that she died. My mom was really sad. After the funeral, my mom and me drove out to a field to get a suitcase with stuff in it. Sheila's mom was there because her mom and my mom were sisters. They had another sister that would have gotten two of the things in the suitcase, but she died as a baby, so my mom brought me with to show me what to do with the things. They opened the suitcase and there were six little fuzzy balls in it. They were arguing because my mom and her sister were each supposed to get three fuzzy balls and I had to get at least two fuzzy balls and there were only six in the suitcase. Then they stepped in the field to look for more and about forty jumped out of the field towards us. My mom told me to catch as many as I could. I caught fifteen of them. The ones that were not caught hit the ground and disappeared. Then suddenly, a storm came so they ran away as fast as they could. I ran with them and asked if I should go back to get the fuzzy ball things and she said that I had to so I ran back against the storm and got my pants (it was hot outside so I was wearing shorts) and the ten fuzzy things that were left. As soon as I picked all of them up, the storm went away and the sun came out. As I was running to catch up, I dropped a fuzzy thing and it disappeared. Then we ran into town and went into a McDonalds and in there was a red and yellow thing in the middle of the play room that had the round balls in it. My mom and aunt chanted something three times, then we lifted up the top of the ball holder and there was another level under the plastic balls that we put all of our fuzzy balls into for safe keeping. A little boy saw us do that and after we left, he tried to lift it up like us, but he couldn't.

This seems more like the dreams I recall having...maybe the weird ones just stand out more. But really...fuzzy balls? Storms? Chanting? What?

    **********

I had dinner at LuLu's tonight (Note: This was actually typed/written on the 13th). Hummus pita with cucumber & tomato slices. Yummy stuff. Yep. That's about the update on my life.

Oh. And I left my phone at the office (of my sort of job) yesterday and today when I picked it up...6 new voicemail. I don't think I've EVER had that many at once. EVER. EVER. Sister called. E called. Friend called. Friend of friend called. Guy from the Chicago Bulls called. It was just ODD. But I returned all the calls that I needed to. I think. And I might have a modeling gig in a month-ish. The friend of a friend needs a model subject. I still have to be approved by her teacher though. I'm going down to Aveda tomorrow for that. hah.

Yep. That's my life. It's 9pm and I'm getting sleepy.
